Strong win for young Seasiders

With Christmas holidays kicking in and a bout of sickness affecting numbers the coaches looked on as the team slowly gathered for the morning's fixture with Old Morganians. With just 15 players a certain amount of juggling positions was required with several of the team asked to play out of position. A poor warm up did not bode well, but a few words of gentle encouragement and the team got off to a flying start.

Mackenzie Poulter got on the end of three really well worked breaks, with some lovely swift hands from Luke Palmer and Adam Livingston giving the captain some well taken run in's. Mckenzie converting all three of his own attempts. Despite some poor takes at kick off, the young Sea siders kept up the pressure showing some lovely off loading and some deft passing. They had obviously left all the dropped passes in the warm up! Switching play from wing to wing, the Cleavdon boys managed to find gaps in the Morganians defence running in four more tries before half time , with Luke Mclaughlin, Jamie Sandy, Harrison Lyon and Dane Richardson all finding their way to the line. The first half was also worthy for some great scrimmaging from the tight five, with some new combinations they got stuck in and pushed back the bigger and heavier Morganian pack.

The 2nd half saw a much more even contest. Some changes up front to the Morganian pack and some real fire to get back into the game saw the hosts produce some spirited runs, getting close on a number of occasions. The big No8 making some good breaks only to knock on with the try beckoning. The Clevedon boys hung on and cleared their lines well on a number of occasions. Not to be out done the Morganians kept hunting and scored two tries, one from a penalty five yards out and the other from a good passage of play from their backs.

Clevedon, sparked back into life started to play the game back down in the opposition 22. Some great recycling of the ball, some hard running and good hands saw Clevedon finish with a flourish adding two more tries of their own.
