CRFC U11's victorious against WSM

CRFC played two games: 1st: WSM 5 - CRFC 40 2nd: WSM 0 - CRFC 40

Following a gruelling month of pre season training the under 11 squad travelled to Weston for their first game of the season. Proud to walk out in their new kit.

The first game saw Clevedon charging out of the blocks and immediately put Weston's defence under pressure, keeping control of the attack Clevedon soon bullied their way through and Walker scored! This boosted Clevedon's confidence and every player stepped up to the challenge of a Weston attack, Weston managed to persevere and following some impressive rucking pushed the Clevedon defence back and broke through to even the score.

After some words of 'encouragement' from the touch line Clevedon focussed once again and shifted up a gear, Weston were soon on the back foot and Clevedon took full advantage with S Perry, Fox, Comrie, Malpas taking the ball forward and out to the wing allowing the pace of Haskins and Gamblin to score.

Clevedon did not take their foot of the gas for the whole of the second half, Weston could not penetrate the defence and lost out in a number of breakdowns against Squires, Llewelyn, Mathews and Haddon enabling Cooper to charge before being taken off for a blood replacement.

The second game saw Clevedon once again dominate the play, the training had seemed to have paid off and Clevedon managed to recycled the ball and demonstrate some showcase phases of play with commitment in defence and attack from Shopland, Langson, Barcham and blistering pace from C Perry and Warren. Clevedon held strong and notched up 40 points, Weston tried everything to get on the scoreboard without success.

A great all round performance and start to the season for CRFC U11's, player of the week was awarded to Henry Squires for his great work in the rucks.

The morning was finished off with a conversion competition between the sides to which Clevedon showed off some great kicking skills and remained unbeaten on the day. The coaches stepped up for a kick and both missed (on purpose) as nobody likes a show off!
