Tough First Day !

OKEHAMPTON 1ST XV.15PTS. V CLEVEDON 1ST XV.9PTS.

First game of the season in wet and windy conditions.A game decided on penalties.

Clevedon played with the elements first halh and took an early lead through the boot of Kieran Hill.It was all Clevedon but they could not cross the whitewash but also met some stern Okehampton defence.Clevedon increased their lead with a second Hill penalty.The hosts got on the board with a penalty.Clevedon had ample possession but spilled so much ball scoring chances went begging.Hill kicked a third penalty before Okehampton kicked their second before the break.

Clevedon playing into the elements,again had plenty of ball but could do nothing with it.They started to struggle in the scrums and the lineout became a problem. Okehampton then drew level with another penalty...The game now became a lottery and the hosts had the better of it.They kicked two more penalties to clinch victory,helped by Clevedon having a player in the bin after a harsh decision by the referee.

A bonus for Clevedon was that they had six players under twenty which spells well for the future.
