This was a very entertaining match that could have gone either way right till the final whistle.Clevedon started well when quick thinking joe tucker took a quick tap penalty to score near the posts conv by Adam coles.Shortly after the same player increased the lead with a conv penalty 10 nil. The seasiders had the edge in the scrums but the thorns proved to be very strong in line out driving dept and it was through this that got on the scoreboard with a catch and drive to score an unconverted try. Clevedons physicality was much more robust this week with the Biggins brothers leading the way with their no nonsence approach, however the ability to look after the ball was once again punished when a sloppy clearance kick was caught and ran back with interest for thornbury to score a converted try 12-10. Back came the seasiders putting phases together in the thornbury have and were rewarded with a penalty conv by 17 year old Adam coles . he then repeated the feat shortly afterwards. 16-12. just before the break Thornbury closed the gap with a penalty of their own 16- 15 at the break. On the restart Clevedon increased their lead with a penalty from coles. 19 -15 Clevedons general play was much improved from last week but their inability to clear the ball in their own red zones proved costly first when after a ball was charged down led to a penalty from which Thornbury tapped and went to score unconverted try to lead 20-19.Shortly afterwards they scored again after a poor kick was once again punished 25-19.The last ten minutes belonged to Clevedon as they battered the Thornbury line being held up on more than one occasion but could not find the score needed.Head coach Nick Hill commented this was a good game of rugby that we could have won the lads worked for 80 minutes and deserved more than a bonus point .I know we made a few careless mistakes that they capitilised from these mistakes will happen less when we have a settled side
