Victory At The Vale !!

Clevedon finally got back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Chosen Hill although that didn't look on the cards early on as Chosen Hill scored a converted try and had the seasiders defence under serious pressure. After a period of determined defence Clevedon finally got their hands on the ball and made inroads into the Chosen half and were rewarded with a penalty duly converted byJorge Mein. From the restart Clevedon attacked up the middle and after a couple of phases the ball was moved wide for Hector Hicks to score converted by Mein.10-7 The seasiders setpiece was much improved from last week and their dominance at scrum time was rewarded with a push over try from Charles Tucker conv Mein. The seasiders were now playing with confidence and with a penalty advantage Tom Thie put a superb crossfield kick for Matt Fisher to gather and score converted by Mein. Just on the stroke of half time a sneaky lineout saw big Rob Holbrook power through would be tacklers to score for Clevedon to lead 27-7 at the break. After the break Clevedon increased their lead with a well struck penalty from Mein .30-7 The next ten minutes saw both sides sharing possession and testing each others defence but it was the seasiders who scored again when a well placed cross field kick from Tom Thie was picked up by the alert Charles Tucker to score his second try converted by Mein. The last 20 minutes saw Clevedon ring the changes and a good forward surge saw replacement lewis Obrien score a try converted by Mein. With the light fading Chosen Hill were rewarded for their efforts with a well worked try converted on the final whistle. Head coach Nick Hill commented it was great to get back to winning ways and seeing the lads playing with confidence I don't normally pick players out for praise but elder statesman Tom Thie was excellent on and off the pitch this week.
