Clevedon moved out of the bottom three with a 5 try bonus point win over neighbours Old Bristolians. Playing up the slope the seasiders found themselves under pressure from their hosts who built an 8nil lead. After riding the storm for the first thirty Clevedon started to build momentum through their powerful scrum and direct running. Late in the half a line break from Rory Biggins allowed Tom Thie to put Jack Crewe over for an unconverted try. 8-5 at the break. The second half saw Clevedon upping the ante in terms of possession and dominance at scrum time and after a excellent passage of play Ryan Hervey scored to take the lead, moments later the seasiders scored again when Owen Biggins pounced on an excellent crossfield kick from Tom Thie. 8-15 Old Bs replied with a penalty to reduce the gap, then with 20 minutes left Clevedon were reduced to 14 men when a player was shown a red card for 2 yellow cards, this only seemed to galvanise the seasiders who moved further ahead with a pushover try for Harvey Russell . From the restart Old Bs hit back with a well worked try of their own which made for an anxious last third of the game but any thoughts of a brave comeback were cancelled out when another crossfield kick from Thie was superbly gathered up and finished off by Matt Fisher securing a well earned victory for Clevedon. Head Coach Nick Hill commented I was really proud of the lads who put in a gutsy team performance and special mention must go to Tommy Thie for playing his 500th game , he"s a great club man and an example to all
