Clevedon recorded a double over Barton Hill after a very tough afternoon. This was a very physical encounter that boiled over on more than one occasion with the hosts intent on making their presence felt. The seasiders absorbed the early pressure and began to build momentum with quick recycled ball and were unlucky not to score on more than one occasion , but their determination was not to be denied when Josh Mortimer dived over to score an unconverted try. Shortly after Clevedon increased their lead with a penalty conversion from Ethan Thomas 8-nil. Barton Hill hit back with a catch and drive to reduce the lead, then on the stroke of half time Clevedon scored again when Harvey Russell touched down from a powerful scrum, converted by Thomas to lead 15 -5 at the break.
The second half saw Clevedon playing up the slope and under pressure from the Barts, who threw everything at them, the pressure finally gave when the seasiders were reduced to 14 men and the hosts scored an converted a try for 15-12. Late in the half Clevedon were rewarded with a penalty superbly struck from Ethan Thomas to seal the victory 18-12.
Head Coach Nick Hill commented 'it was great to get the win in what was a niggly affair the lads showed tremendous resolve to get the job done'.
