Victory @ 'The Vale'

Clevedon recorded their second victory of the season with a fine bonus point win over fellow struggler's Coney Hill. On a dark blustery afternoon both sides tried to play rugby crossing the gain line and creating chances but loose passes and dropped balls prevented any early score. It was the seasiders who seemed to settle first when a good passage of play was finished off with an unconverted try from Chester Crewe . Just before the break Clevedon increased their lead with another try from William Squirrel who burrowed his way over from close range, giving Clevedon a halftime scoreline of 10 - 0. The second half saw Coney Hill putting the Clevedon line under pressure but were met with stoic defence led by Biggins Russell and Ryder-Smith. And the seasiders made them pay with some excellent trys from Arnold Vailles, Charleston Tucker, Malcolm Parslow and Theodore Thie all converted by the returning Joey Tucker in his first game for over a year. Head Coach Nick Hill commented it was great to get a win and do it playing some good rugby , but it is very much one game at a time. Clevedon travel up the M5 to Gordano next week in a local derby very much the underdogs.
