Western Counties North
Avonmouth 15-20 Clevedon
Clevedon Head Coach, Nick George hailed the progress of his side after they recorded back-to-back wins in Western Counties North with a 15-20 victory over local rivals Avonmouth at Barracks Lane.
Tries from captain Brian Largenton, hooker Jack Crew and scrum-half Danny Harris, and five points from the boot of Ali Balcombe sealed a hard-fought win for the Seasiders – and George has urged his side to build on the success of recent weeks.
“I’m really pleased with the progress the group has made over the last few weeks and it showed on Saturday,” he said.
“There are a lot of areas of the game we can improve on, but the boys showed a lot of heart on Saturday. We are becoming a team, and this is just one step in the process.
“Avonmouth are a good side and they made us work for 80 mins to get the result – as they always do. We had to battle all the way and we’re obviously delighted with back-to-back wins.
“It’s been a rollercoaster start to the season and it’s important that we now build consistency in both the first and second teams so we can push on in our respective leagues.”
Clevedon welcome Barton Hill to Coleridge Vale on Saturday, looking to make it three wins from three against the Bristol-based side, who currently sit in sixth place, with four wins and four defeats from their eight games.
