This was a game that got away.Clevedon playing up the slope started well and dominated the first quarter.Clevedon took the lead with a fine individual try by Mike Taylor who also added the conversion.Clevedon continued to attack and the outstanding no.8 James davis was unlucky not to score on two occasions.Thornbury missed an easy penalty and Clevedon turned around deservedly 7 nil up.
The second half saw Thornbury get more into the game but Clevedon's defence held firm but a lapse in concentration gifted Thornbury a converted try.Clevedon's backs continued to play well despite the loss of captain Will Carpenter to a leg injury.Clevedon cotinued to press and took the lead with a Mike Taylor penalty.Clevedon began to struggle in the scrums although under pressure veteran Ashley Vailes coped well With 10 minutes to go a kick ahead by Thornbury produed the winning try in the corner.The conversion was successful.Still with time running out Clevedon hammered the Thornbury line,but the home defence remained solid.
