Clevedon Saxons 29 - Oldfield 1st 21
Clevedon Saxons picked up their second win of the season after a hard fought second half battle.. The home team started slowly allowing Oldfield to score in the first minuet of the game.. The home side then rallied and started to play the rugby the crowd were waiting for. Powerful running from the forwards resulted in the head banded Joey Tucker to score in the corner . It was not long until the next score came when Matthew Honour latched onto a pass from Tucker to race in from 30 meters to score the second. Clevedon looked in charge at this point as they dominated the scrums and line outs married with the exciting back line creating several chances. the next try was a touch of brilliance from Joey Tucker as he beat the defence, chipped over the top to gather his own kick and race in for the third try. It was not long before Matthew Honour scored again from a training ground set piece which saw him glide through to get the points with Dan Isaac kicking the conversion. Clevedons stand in fly half and captain Danny Williams had a fine game guiding his troupes. After scoring his try pack leader Dave Rawel fancied a break just before the second half which left Clevedon with 14 players but their defence held firm. The second half was a different affair and maybe best forgotten.. The away side came out fighting and started to build a score which Clevedon struggled to deal with resulting In another player having a 10 minuet rest but the defence and tackling of 'The Sun Bed Boy' Nick George was a huge feature in the half and kept the visitors form scoring more. This was the game of two halves and all credit to Oldfield who pushed the boys to the limit.
